A
watermark can help you protect the integrity of your presentation. A watermark clearly identifies a presentation as yours. This can be especially important when many presentations are uploaded to the internet. A watermark can also be used to distinguish a draft of your presentation from the final presentation.

A watermark is a semi-transparent image that is visible in the background so that it can be seen, but light enough that your presentation is clearly visible. In this
tutorial I’ll teach you how to add watermarks to your slides in
Microsoft PowerPoint.

How to Quickly Add a Watermark in PowerPoint

Note: Watch this short tutorial screencast or follow the quick steps below, that complement this video to learn how to make a watermark in PowerPoint.

1. Get Your Watermark Ready in Photoshop

The
first thing that I recommend doing is getting the logo file that you use as a watermark
ready in an app like Photoshop. I’ve got mine open here in Photoshop:

watermark file
Start by preparing your watermark image in a tool like Photoshop.

Turn down the Opacity so that your image works well as a watermark. This will help it blend into the slide nicely.

Save the file in Photoshop as a transparent PNG.

2. Open the PowerPoint Slide Master

Open PowerPoint to a presentation that you want to watermark. Go to the View tab and switch to the Slide Master

switch to the Slide Master
Putting the watermark on the Slide Master means it appears on every slide in the presentation.

Let’s paste in that logo file and then
drag to reposition it to where we want.

Reposition the watermark
You can drag and drop the watermark to place it where you want it. You can also resize it.

The
advantage to working on the slide master is that the changes you make to this
slide will affect multiple slides so that you don’t have to place the watermark on
each and every one.

3. Check Your Watermark in Standard Slide View

Return to the standard slide view. The logo is in the
same place on each slide. It’ll act as a watermark that is present on every slide
in PowerPoint. Here’s a slide with the finished watermark on it:
